a. Where are we headed?
The logical conclusions to current trends are not knee jerk reactions from Christians but truth verified by ethicists like Peter Singer. Peter Singer and others believe that parents should have the right to take the life of a child any time up until 28 days after the child has been born.
If the only reason for killing a child is due to his MS, Down syndrome or a missing limb, then what about those in society? If a child in the womb does not deserve to live then what about adults with exactly the same or more serious conditions?
If killing a baby in the womb is okay then why not a baby outside of the womb? After all, the only difference is size.
If killing a baby in the womb because of an illness or handicap is okay then why not kill those who are deemed useless to society or a burden to society?
What about the old? Are they not a drain on society? What do they contribute? Why not kill them?
We will consider this slippery slope more this evening when we talk about eugenics and euthanasia.
Conclusion: Society collapses when the most vulnerable lose their right to life, protection and value. Since the beginning of legalised abortion child abuse and other violent crime has risen dramatically. After all, if it is okay to kill a baby in the womb why not beat on him or her in the home?
