Forget Global Warming - We're Destroying the Universe

"Mankind 'shorterning the universes' life'

On the surface it may seem like a theologically correct statement. After all, the Bible teaches that God created the world perfect but that the world "fell" through Adam's sin.universe

When Adam sinned the whole of creation became tainted by his action. In the New Testament book of Romans we find that "Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:" In another chapter (8), we read of the wider implications, "For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now."

So, man sinned, suffering and death came into the world, Adam's descendents all suffer and die and the universe itself began a process of decay.

(As a side line, existance outside of God, to me, seems ultimately worthless. We have 70-80 years in this world, a mere flash in evolutionary terms, and then it is over. Over the years all energy will break down, all the stars will die, heat will dissapate and eventually the whole universe will be dark, cold and lifeless. Yay!)

Anyway, I digress.

Despite God's public, and very incorrect, image of an angry old man, sitting in the clouds just waiting to strike people down with lightening, God is in fact kind, merciful and loving. Indeed, not just loving, but love itself.

Christ, the Son of God, died, not because of a faulty Jewish legal system driven by jealous leaders, but because of my sin and your sin. The penalty for doing wrong is death, eternal separation from God in Hell. But, even though we, by our actions, are the enemies of God, God provided a way for us to be saved. Jesus Christ, on the cross, took on Himself all of the punishment sinners deserved. Now if we repent, trust in Him, and ask God to forgive for Christ's sake, we can be saved.

Back to the article...

The article to which I link is not actually anything to do with theology it turns out. Instead it has to do with watched kettles never boiling or something... when we observe something we change it, we have observed the universe, dark matter etc, and in so doing have damaged it and shortened the life of the universe...
