Sunday

We had a great service this Sunday morning! I preached on "How to Get the Judge to Give Your Mercy" from James 2:1-13. Tonight we will be continuing our "Prophecies of Daniel" series with "The Fiery Furnace." We will also be having a special time of fellowship after the service. See you tonight! - Stephen

Abortion in the News

Note: At the end of this blog I have some pictures of babies in the womb, nothing graphic or distressing, but it is in the context of discussing babies at those stages of development being aborted.

The BBC has a report today on abortion. The BBC headline states: Public 'backs easier abortions'. The first paragraph the gives the statistics that appears to say that people want permission for an abortion made easier (emphasis added):

"Women should not have to gain the permission of two doctors to obtain an abortion in Britain, a slim majority of respondents to a survey have said.

"Some 35% said one doctor was enough and 17% thought permission should not needed at all, the poll for pro-choice campaign Abortion Rights found."

In a later paragraph it makes two comments I want to draw your attention to. First, abortion is legal up to 24 weeks and then the statistic that only one doctor should be needed to give permission for an abortion up until the baby is 14 weeks.

Remember, a baby has a recognizable heartbeat and brainwaves from 3 weeks and 6 weeks respectively. I believe abortion at any stage is wrong, but during these time frames a doctor is deliberately stopping a heart beat and brain functions... if they did that to any one outside the womb on purpose it would be murder.

Here are some pictures of babies at the stages that some doctors willingly murder:

Windows, Signs, and More

Windows

For along time now we have needed new windows in the church. Apart from looking bad, we had safety concerns. As well, heating a building with old windows is more expensive. This week the new windows were finally put in! I thank God they went in with no problems and before the special services that we have coming up.

Signs

After several companies letting us down with getting the signs updated and/or replaced one company has finally come through. They are working on some designs for us and will get some proposals to us in the next few days.

Special Services

A lot more has been happening with leaflets and preparation for the special services. We are excited about these things, but we hope there will be spiritual blessings also. We look for individuals to come to Christ and for believers to be blessed and helped.

Failed Abortion Story - Gianna Jessen

Our site receives quite a few visitors who have gone to search engines, such as Google, to look for information on abortion. So far our level of impact is quite low, but we are helping to spread the truth about this contentious issue.

I received this story in my e-mail this past weekend and wanted to share it with you.  Follow the link and read it to the end:

There is really no comment I can add. All I want to say is this. If you are planning on having an abortion then please speak with us. If you need support or help then please know that you can turn to us, we would be glad to help.

Update from SPUC - Wales Rushing Abortions

Guidelines have been proposed by the Welsh assembly to ensure that women in Wales get faster access to abortions. Such women would be able to have an abortion within a week of asking. These proposals, which include removing the practice of having two doctors consent to an abortion, are supposed to reduce "negative psychological outcomes" associated with abortions. Dr Patricia Lohr, medical director of the British Pregnancy Advisory Service, said, "Being able to offer the earliest possible abortion treatment once a woman has made her decision means the procedure is less invasive for her, and it is cheaper for the NHS to provide." Anthony Ozimic, political secretary of SPUC, said, "Easier access to abortion places women under psychological pressure to have abortions, leaving them even more vulnerable" [icWales, 27 August]

Update from SPUC

"Abortionists in Massachusetts are reportedly responding to the Supreme Court's partial birth abortion ban by injecting unborn babies with lethal drugs to prevent them being delivered live if an abortion is incomplete. The Boston Globe says three major hospitals affiliated to Harvard University have made such injections "standard operating procedure for abortions beginning at around 20 weeks' gestation." Phil Magnan, president of Biblical Family Advocates, said: "What should always give us pause is the fact that at one end of the hospital they are fighting to save a small 20 week [premature] baby from dying, offering them excellent life-saving procedures; and yet at the other end of the hospital they are giving children lethal doses of drugs to kill them in an attempt to shield themselves from botched abortions. Their actions are screaming medical hypocrisy." [Boston Globe on CNA on EWTN, 13 August]"
